Anne Levy

Judith Anne Winstanley Levy AO (born 29 September 1934) is a former Australian politician. She was a Labor member of the South Australian Legislative Council from 1975 to 1997.
Levy served as the first Labor President of the South Australian Legislative Council, from 1986 to 1989. Labor had not previously ever held the Legislative Council presidency. Additionally, Levy was the first and so far only woman to hold the Legislative Council presidency. Levy was also Labor's first female elected to the Legislative Council, and only the second female elected to the Legislative Council ahead of the Liberal and Country League's Jessie Cooper. In April 1989 Levy was appointed Minister for Local Government and the Arts, with State Services added in December. In early 1991 her portfolios were reorganised as Local Government Relations and Arts and Cultural Heritage. She ceased to be a minister following Labor's election loss in 1993 and she retired from the Council in 1997.
